I found this on a blog, and went straight to the kitchen to make it:
Moisturizing Kitchen Hand Scrub
1 1/2 c sugar
1/3 c kosher salt (I used a coarse Hawaiian salt)
zest of 1 extra large lemon (I used orange zest)
1 c olive oil
1/4 tsp pure lemon extract, optional
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. If you would like a slightly stronger fragrance, add the extract.
Spoon into a pretty jar, tighten the lid. Wipe any spills or drips from the outside of the jar. Alternatively, you can use orange or lime zest for a different fresh citrus smell.
For an extra touch, tie a pretty bow around the jar if you plan to gift this scrub.
I used orange zest, since I didn't have a lemon. The smell is faint - I think the lemon would be stronger. But I love the scrub, especially the idea of keeping it in the kitchen, next to the sink!
The olive oil really does make your hands feel soft. I love it!!!

- Sandi, how/when do you use this? Do you rinse it off? [NT] - Marianne - 11:33pm on 03/07/09
- I use after I wash my hands, and yes, rinse off. The olive oil stays on, so I rub that in... - Sandi in Hawaii - 8:12pm on 03/08/09
