Barbara, it tastes as good as it sounds. I think this is the best fruitcake I've ever baked.

We have a local little old time store here that sells bulk old fashioned candies out of the old wooden glass front cases, penny candy bins, teas, spices, all kinds of baking supplies like colored sugar, sanding sugar, extracts, nuts, candied fruits, etc. The fruit is superior to anything a grocery offers. It's in bins and there is a lot of syrup on it so its very juicy. Hopefully you can find something similar. It's not a chain, and is called "Murray Brothers". Here's a link to a supplier that has good pix and prices, haven't ordered from them though, so I can't vouch for the quality. But since they're dealing in such high volumes and specializing in it, one one think the quality would be better than the stuff that sits on the supermarket shelves for months:
