#23905: ISO ideas for croquet game picnic food

Every year, my college (St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland) plays a croquet game against the Naval Academy, which is across the street. This is a long-standing tradition and apparently it's quite a dressy affair--everyone dresses in period clothing (or as close as they can get), brings a picnic, and cheers on their respective team. I hear it's all very Great Gatsby/Downton Abbey.
I've never been to this event (side note: my college has two campuses--the one in Annapolis and one in Santa Fe; I went to the one in Santa Fe), but we're going this year because a couple of friends are getting married before the croquet game and the game will be their reception. Also, my husband's cousin is a Naval Academy graduate and he's always wanted to go so we're going to meet up with his family there.
So I need to bring a picnic. Given the event, I'm thinking egg salad sandwiches, those salmon canapes someone posted recently, perhaps a sliced pork tenderloin (for the men in the party). Whatever I bring needs to be able to sit in a cooler during the ceremony.
With all the snow on the ground, I'm not quite in picnic mode and am having trouble thinking of other things to bring. (It's at the end of April; I'm just trying to plan ahead a bit.) Any ideas? Perhaps I'll go peruse the menu section, too.
