With all the different expectations and preferences, I stopped "going wild" several years back (oh for the days of the all Japanese Thanksgiving, or the Grilled Ducks with Cilantro Honey Lime glazing...sigh). Plus, with things in such upheaval, people want comfort food. Here it is, the no-frills comfort food Thanksgiving Menu 2008 that we'll be having at my house:

Corn Chowder
Beef and Noodles (very old family tradition)
Roast Butler County Turkey
Cornbread Dressing
Russian Potato Casserole
Scalloped Oysters
Green Beans
Turkey Pan Gravy
Seven-Layer Salad
Fresh Fruit Salad
Cranberry Relish
Grandma's Thanksgiving Cake
Marinated Apple Pie
Maple Ginger Fudge Dessert TBA

Nobody ever eats sweet potatoes except for me, so I'm 86-ing them this year. I eat them nearly every week anyway, so no big whoop. Family will contribute 3 more sides and salads TBA.

Boring, but it's what they want.
