Hi orchid. :o) A website requires a domain name and web hosting, just to get started, about $300/year. That is the bare minimum that this site needs to keep running. If we want to add improvements (and we do) we need money to pay programmers who typically charge between $50 to $150/hour. So we would like to make money so that improvements can be made down the line. Stuff like fixing the 31-post bug, fixing the problem with archiving, being able to upload photos, etc. Also the owner has a family to support...

No one is required to subscribe and in fact I don't (and I'm sure Paul doesn't) expect everyone, as you say, to donate. Typically people don't donate and that's why advertising is so prevalent on websites.

I am donating my time right now and am not getting paid for this.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -JRRT
