This is the recipe my grandmother, mother & aunts used. My sister doesn't use the cloves (she doesn't like cloves :), and I use just a teensy amount. We bake ours for 45 minutes and use a 10" Bundt pan. My cousin bakes hers in a 10" Corningware dish for 40 minutes. IMO this is one big delicious sugar cake.

Pepparkaka (Swedish Spice Cake)

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsps. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves, ground
1 tsp. ground cardamom
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter, melted

Place dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Beat 2 eggs in smaller bowl. Add sour cream & blend. Add to dry ingredients.
Swish a little of the melted butter in cake pan--enough to coat, then pour remainder into batter and blend. Pour batter into baking pan (like a 10 Bundt or tube pan).

Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

I like to sift powdered sugar on top...sometimes serve with whipped cream.
